At the southern slopes of the Western Tatras, there is a museum dedicated to the folk architecture of Liptov. The museum was created in response to the flooding of a large area caused by the construction of the Liptovská Mara Reservoir. The most significant cultural monuments from eleven submerged villages were transferred here, forming the basis of the museum exhibition. The original buildings were dismantled at their original sites and their valuable parts were transported and assembled into precise replicas of the original structures. Among the greatest treasures of the open-air museum is the Gothic- Renaissance Manor House from Parížovce, which is the oldest preserved gentry residence from Liptov, dating from the 14th - 16th centuries and is associated with King Matthias Corvinus and his son John Corvinus, Prince of Liptov. Another notable monument is the Early Gothic Church of the Virgin Mary from the village of Liptovská Mara, containing fragments of the original wall paintings from the 14th and 15th centuries. The museum houses a static exhibition of the historical Považie Forest Railway (Považská lesná železnica). You can also enjoy a ride on the historic train, which was once part of the Považie Forest Railway (Považská lesná železnica). The ticket for the ride must be obtained together with the ticket to the Liptov Village Museum in Pribylina. The open-air museum has its own zoological exhibition, focusing on the breeding of domestic animals and poultry. An attraction of the museum is the breeding of Hucul horses, as well as the possibility of riding them. How to get there? The museum stretches across a large area at the end of the village of Pribylina, in the direction of Podbanské. Parking There is parking lot in front of the open-air museum entrance.
