Gothic Church of All Saints, Ludrová – Kút

This rural colonisation church was built in the last third of the 13th century. On its western side, at the beginning of the second half of the 15th century, a prismatic tower was added (completed to its present height two centuries later), along with a southern nave featuring a new entrance. Due to its unique painted interior, the church is regarded as one of the most significant sacred monuments in the Liptov region and in all Slovakia. On the northern, eastern, and southern walls of the sanctuary, visitors are captivated by 34 expressive scenes from the life of Jesus Christ. This unique Christological cycle was created around 1420. On the northern wall of the original nave, there is a figurative triptych depicting the figures of Virgin Mary the Protector, Christ the Sufferer and Saint John the Baptist (or Christ the Good Shepherd), created around 1410. The interior decoration of the church provides an interesting example of the local interpretation of the International Gothic style, influenced by patterns from book miniatures and panel painting in the spirit of the Czech Beautiful Style. Within the church grounds, which are enclosed by a 17th century stone wall with a Classical-style gate dating from 1843, there is another rarity: a linden tree approximately 350 years old. The Gothic church is included among the exhibitions of the Liptov Museum. How to get there? The church is located between Ružomberok and Liptovská Štiavnica, in the area known as Ludrová - Kút. It is approximately 3 km away from Ružomberok. Parking Opposite the church there is a dirt road where parking is possible. Štiavnička bus stop, near the RD drying facility, is accessible by bus from Ružomberok and is located approximately 700 m from the church.
